An ecosystem dedicated to advancing agrivoltaics through events, education, and collaborative initiatives connecting agriculture, energy, and land stewardship.
The Solar Farm Summit is an ecosystem dedicated to advancing the thoughtful integration of solar energy, agriculture, and land stewardship. We focus on ground-mounted solar development and dual-use projects that co-locate solar power with agricultural production, habitat restoration, and conservation practices—including pollinator habitat and the productive reuse of marginal and brownfield land.
Our aim goes beyond hosting events. We are working to seed a broader marketplace of ideas—demonstrating that solar, agriculture, and conservation are not in conflict, but can work together to strengthen rural economies, protect working lands, and support resilient energy systems.
Through education, collaboration, and storytelling, we seek to open practical opportunities for farmers, developers, researchers, and communities alike. Our highest objective is to build understanding, inspire action, and help agrivoltaics become a widely adopted approach to land-based solar development.
Event Production
We cultivate AgPV events that connect stakeholders & varied interests across the farming + solar landscape.
Inspiration & Impact
We communicate a powerful mix of substance & passion to champion AgPV projects, policy, and best practices.
Community Building
We catalyze communities by finding common ground & constructive growth pathways with mutual benefit.
Analytics & Advisory
We create data-rich reports, develop original analysis, and build robust due diligence to support decision-making and drive solar foodshed development.
Solar Farm Summit began in 2023 as North America’s first conference and exhibition dedicated entirely to agrivoltaics and dual-use solar development. The inaugural gathering brought together farmers, solar developers, researchers, policymakers, land stewards, and innovators to explore how ground-mounted solar projects can coexist with agriculture, habitat restoration, and responsible land stewardship.
The community grew rapidly. Solar Farm Summit returned in 2024 with expanded participation and programming, and introduced the North American Agrivoltaics Awards, recognizing leadership and innovation across research, project development, policy, and land stewardship.
By 2025, the event had grown into North America’s largest agrivoltaics-focused conference and expo, while also launching several new initiatives including the Student Design Challenge, the AgPV Engagement Zone, Solar Farmers Square, and Solar Farm Tours expanding community education, youth engagement, and connections between solar energy and food systems.
Building on the momentum of these national gatherings, Solar Farm Summit is transitioning in 2026 to a series of state-focused conferences designed to engage regional stakeholders and address the unique agricultural, energy, and land-use contexts across the country. These regional events will continue advancing practical agrivoltaics dialogue while building toward the next national Solar Farm Summit, planned for 2027 or 2028.
Presentations and posters from past events are available in the Conference Archives.

Enriching solar + agriculture experience of the very highest educational caliber working through a comprehensive dual-use development syllabus exploring agrivoltaic and ecovoltaic applications.
Exceptional speaker lineup of 100+ of today‛s foremost practitioners walking through 101-level instruction suitable for novices and state-of-the-art sessions and applied science.
Solar and agriculture exhibitors will host another electric exhibition showcasing services and hardware, displaying livestock, and serving as a central hub for meetings and happy hours.
Multiple scheduled networking events occurring daily, beginning with the North American Agrivoltaics Awards and concluding with mobile tour opportunities.
Public and private sector experts representing a diversity of disciplines will be available on-site for peer-to-peer learning and problem solving.
Explore the potential for solar power systems to energize active conservation, increase soil health, and restore robust ecosystem services and habitat.
Focused redevelopment sessions providing resources to repurpose brownfields and marginal lands and retrofit existing solar facilities into multi-functional solar farms.
Fun, fast-paced face-to-face sessions connecting small groups of participants in guided discussions and Q&A led by seasoned agrivoltaics practitioners.
Expanded poster gallery will display the best research, designs, projects and best practices, as well as select finalists in the North American Agrivoltaics Awards.

Beginning in 2026, Solar Farm Summit is expanding into a national roadshow of state-focused summits designed to engage regional stakeholders and address the unique agricultural, energy, and land-use contexts across the country.
Each summit brings together farmers, solar developers, researchers, policymakers, educators, and community leaders to explore practical pathways for aligning solar development with working lands. By focusing on the regional realities of agriculture, policy, and energy demand, the Roadshow creates space for more grounded dialogue, shared learning, and locally relevant solutions.
These gatherings build on the foundation established by the national Solar Farm Summit, extending the conversation into the places where solar and agriculture intersect most directly.

Over time, Solar Farm Summit has grown into a broader initiative supporting education, engagement, and collaboration across the agrivoltaics ecosystem. Our programs include:

Recognizing leadership and innovation across the agrivoltaics field—from pioneering research and project development to policy leadership and land stewardship.

A national learning initiative inviting students to explore how solar and agriculture can work together. Student designs are shared through events and the AgPV Engagement Zone, helping connect classrooms with real-world careers and ideas.

A growing directory of agrivoltaic and dual-use solar sites that welcome visitors. The program helps farmers, students, and practitioners learn directly from operating projects across North America.

A traveling, hands-on educational environment that brings agrivoltaics demonstrations and learning opportunities to conferences, community events, and partner gatherings.

A pop-up farmers market and demonstration kitchen celebrating foods produced on farms that integrate solar energy—connecting clean energy with food systems and local agriculture.

Solar Farm Summit is exploring how solar energy development can support stronger regional food systems through a concept we call foodshed development.
A foodshed describes the geographic region that produces food for a community—similar to how a watershed describes the land that drains into a body of water. Across the country, many foodsheds are facing pressure from land loss, economic challenges, and changing agricultural markets. At the same time, solar energy development is expanding rapidly across rural landscapes.
Solar Foodsheds explores how these two forces can work together rather than at odds.
Through research, collaboration, and planning initiatives, we work with partners to examine how solar projects can support local agricultural economies, strengthen farm viability, and help preserve working lands while meeting growing energy needs. In some cases, agrivoltaic systems can create new revenue streams for farmers, support soil restoration, or help stabilize land ownership patterns that keep farms in production.
Our approach brings together stakeholders from across agriculture, energy, conservation, and regional planning to explore practical strategies that align solar development with long-term foodshed resilience.
Solar Farm Summit is developing tools, research partnerships, and pilot collaborations that help communities better understand the connections between energy infrastructure, agricultural production, and regional food systems.
We welcome conversations with farmers, researchers, regional planners, economic development leaders, foundations, and organizations interested in exploring how solar development can support resilient agricultural economies.
In addition to hosting events and programs, Solar Farm Summit serves as a hub for the agrivoltaics community. We curate and share research, case studies, tools, and educational resources from leading universities, organizations, and practitioners across the field.
By aggregating and amplifying the best available knowledge, we aim to help farmers, developers, educators, and policymakers access the information they need to make informed decisions about solar and working lands.
Agrivoltaics is more than a technical solution—it represents an opportunity to reconnect energy production with land stewardship, food systems, and rural economies.
When done well, agrivoltaics can support working farms, strengthen rural communities, restore ecosystems, and help meet growing energy needs.
Solar Farm Summit exists to help make that future possible.
